our story

Step this way for the freshest home-made breads, pastries and cakes in West Bridgford and Nottingham!

Le pain à la main is a new bakery producing artisan breads and pâtisseries from scratch using authentic ingredients.

How our story began…

Company founder, Jelena Anthoney, developed a love for baking at her grandmother’s knee growing up in Serbia, where the kitchen is the heart of the family home. Her passion for traditional recipes and making food from scratch became stronger while living and working in Paris and Lyon for several years.

More recently, Jelena studied bread-making at The School of Artisan Food, Nottinghamshire. “Home baking is all about the family,” said Jelena. “We put our passion and knowledge into every loaf.”

About Le Pain today

Our business makes the freshest home-made breads, pastries and cakes in West Bridgford and Nottingham, all baked without compromise.

As a new artisan baker, Le pain à la main uses only the highest quality, organic ingredients, making a range of breads and pâtisseries in small batches every day.

We don’t use additives, our flour is stone-ground and sourced from Shipton Mill in the Cotswolds, which has a Royal Charter.

Our bread is mainly baked in a purpose-built, stone-floored oven which mimics a wood-fired oven. That means a firm, cracking crust and a soft, fluffy interior for each loaf. Mouth-watering stuff!

Our knowledge of artisan bakery and its specialist techniques comes from hands-on experience in kitchens and restaurants in France, Serbia and the UK, all of which make the best quality breads, pastries and cakes.

We make breads including white, wholemeal, pain de campagne sourdough, granary (sometimes known as malthouse) and brioche. Shortly, there will be a loaf suitable for people on a gluten-free diet, too.

Totally Locally West Bridgford

We support the Totally Locally campaign, which encourages more people to use their local shops. We already supply other West Bridgford companies who are part of Totally Locally and sell directly to the public at the monthly Totally Locally Melton Road Market.
